Floors were the first thing this crew installed. Material & prep plan
Based on the room and moisture, we recommend a material and the underlayment it needs, then finalize the layout.
Removal & subfloor work
Old flooring comes out. We fix soft spots, add plywood or leveler where needed, and install membranes.
Installation
Tile is set with proper coverage and grouted; plank floors are laid with expansion gaps and transitions planned at doorways.
Trim & walkthrough
Baseboard or shoe molding, thresholds and transitions go on, and we walk the finished floor with you.
Choosing a floor for Elkton's climate
For entries, laundry rooms and baths, porcelain tile is the most forgiving choice in a damp climate. It absorbs almost no water and stands up to the sand and mud that comes in from yards and riverfront lots. Textured finishes add grip where floors get wet. Luxury vinyl plank is waterproof on its face, but water can still get under it at the edges, and it needs a flat surface to lock properly. Below grade, a moisture test on the slab before installation is worth the time. Hardwood is a good choice upstairs and in main living areas where a dehumidifier or central air keeps humidity steady, and less so directly over a crawl space that stays wet.

Can tile go over our existing vinyl floor?
Sometimes, if there is only one layer, it is fully bonded and the added height works at doors and appliances. More often we remove it so we can see and fix the subfloor. We decide after checking the floor in person.
Our crawl space gets damp in summer. What flooring should we pick?
Tile or a quality luxury vinyl plank will tolerate it better than solid hardwood. It is also worth addressing the crawl space itself with a vapor barrier or ventilation fix, which is separate from the flooring work.
Do you install large-format tile?
Yes. Tiles 24 inches and larger need a very flat substrate, a leveling clip system and back-buttering for full coverage. We install them regularly in kitchens, halls and living areas.
